Mad Leopold

Residential Advisor

Mad joined Beacon Transitions in December 2024. They have lived in Asheville, NC since June 2023. Before joining the Beacon team they worked as a field guide in wilderness therapy in Clayton, GA. Here, they mentored teens and young adults on the Autism Spectrum as well clients with mental health challenges.

While they were a wilderness therapy field instructor,

Mad shaped their role as a mentor. They learned to compassionately shine a light on clients’ behaviors and beliefs, support a culture of feedback, coach students on hygiene and nutrition, and guide students through emotional regulation skills. With young adults in wilderness, Mad focused on teaching daily living skills and executive function coaching. Mad has a personal interest in psychology that has fueled their curiosity around others’ behaviors, belief systems, mental processes, and perspectives since they were a teenager. By nature, Mad is curious, connection-oriented, and excited to help others realize their true nature and potential.

Mad studied Media Studies and Production at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Having studied media in college, Mad has a unique perspective on how television, video games, and social media affects our culture and our young people.

Mad enjoys being outside, learning to cook healthy meals, baking, playing tennis, dancing, and playing board games.
