Heather joined Beacon Transitions as a Residential Advisor in May 2026.
Heather holds a degree in Social Work and brings more than 20 years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and mental health needs through nonprofit services. She has dedicated much of her career to working with adolescents and young adults on the autism spectrum, with a strong emphasis on independent living, life skills, and community integration.
Before joining Beacon, Heather spent 10 years with the Autism Society of North Carolina as a Community Services Coordinator, where she trained and supervised direct support professionals while also providing direct support services herself. In addition to her professional background, Heather is the parent of two adult children on the autism spectrum, giving her a unique combination of lived and professional experience that informs her compassionate, practical approach to supporting Beacon residents.
Heather continues to support nonprofit mental health and IDD services in the Asheville community in an administrative capacity.
Outside of work, Heather enjoys crocheting, reading, research, and spending time with her family and their wolfdogs.
